The Green Manufacturing concept is one of the policy areas of the European Green Deal https://ec.europa.eu/info/strategy/priorities-2019-2024/european-green-deal_en/. The European Green Deal is a package of policy initiatives, which aims to set the EU on the path to a green transition The main objective of the European Green Deal is to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
To achieve this goal, the EGD emphasizes the need for a holistic and cross-sectoral approach. The transformation of production systems into circular systems is essential, which requires involvement of both solution providers and market technology adopters.
Demo4Green project strives to reduce a gap of RIS countries https://eit.europa.eu/our-activities/eit-regional-innovation-scheme?msclkid=b534c6cda53b11ec94fc72e8da813b11/ related to the demonstrations of technological solutions in green manufacturing. The project will demonstrate how new technology drivers can improve ('test-before-invest') both processes (reducing the use of resources) and products (longer life-cycle), thus contributing to the reduction of industrial carbon footprint and to a circular economy.
Following the concept of 'test before invest', Demo4Green will first create a training module on how to implement a demonstrator in a Teaching and Learning Factory (TLF), aimed at industrial and technological companies as well as research teams. Second, Demo4Green will select demonstrators to be implemented in the consortium Teaching and Learning Factories. Finally, Demo4Green will support technological companies (SMEs and Start-ups) and entrepreneurs with coaching to help RIS countries bring their green technologies to the market.
